New updated version with drawdown protection functions.

April 18, 2024

We would like to inform you that we have released a new version of Forex Gold Investor!  In the new updated version (v1.94) we’ve integrated variety of drawdown protections as follows:

1. Max Daily Loss (Currency): Set a maximum limit on the amount you can lose in a single day to protect your capital.
2. Max Daily Drawdown (%): Define the maximum percentage of your balance that can be lost in one day.
3. Min Equity (Currency): Establish a minimum equity level that, when reached, triggers protective measures.
4. Max Equity Drawdown (%): Limit the maximum percentage drawdown of your total equity to prevent significant losses.
5. Max Equity (Currency): Set an upper limit on your equity to help manage gains and protect from volatile shifts.
6. Loss Pause (Hours): After a defined loss, trading can be paused for a set number of hours to avoid further drawdowns.

The values of the protections can be edited in the EA inputs and also in the new Protection panel shown on the chart.

The default values (zero) mean that the respective protection is not active.

Some traders need such protections in “Prop Firm” challenges.

We will refrain from recommending specific values. However Max daily drawdown %=4-6 shows reasonable results decreasing the drawdown and increasing the Recovery Factor in the last several months.

We are obliged to inform you, that using such protections could decrease the overall profit in long-term.

Each trader must decide for himself whether to use these protections and at what values.

Here is how the Protection Panel looks like in Forex Gold Investor:

Hi, thanks for the quick update on this! Just a few questions for clarity's sake, when the min equity/max equity dd/max equity targets are reached, what happens exactly? The EA just stops trading? Does it close all its trade (leaving other trades alone)? Is this indefinitely or for a period of time? And regarding items 1 and 2, max daily loss and DD, for how long does the EA stop trading? For what's left of the day or for 24 hours, or something else? And item 6 I'm guessing is to be used together with either items 2 and 4?

the daily reset hour(terminal)?

When min/max equity targets are reached(it takes into consideration the whole account equity, but not only its own trades) the EA will close only its own trades and it will not open new trades for that same day, so it will start trading the next day. Max Daily Loss and Max Daily Drawdown is the same case but here it will take into conidiation only its own equity. Once they are reached it will close trades and will not open new trades for the same day. Loss Pause is used for the whole DD panel, but not only for Max Daily Loss and Max Daily Drawdown. In other words for Loss Pause, if you enable it even if you lose 1 cent it will stop the EA from trading for a specified time.

Yes, sorry.

First of all i would like to thank you guys for such a prompt update, this was a very important feature for me and i guess many others.

My question is that there was no real explanation of the setting "daily reset hour(terminal)" in the description above.

If left blank is there a default hour?

I already downloaded the new version, however I have some open trades, should I closed those trades manually after installed the last version or what do you recommend?

Note that it is normal some days not to have trades and in such days you have to wait. If you have other questions or have issues you can create support ticket in your profile and our team will definitely help you!

Daily reset is used to reset hours at 00:00 usually. But if the broker has different reset hour then you can set any hours you prefer. Note that if you change that value directly in the control panel it will be effective after the new hour is reched.

The robot will detect its own trades, unless if you have changed the magic number of the EA. It is not necessary to close trades manually, but if you want to do that, yes, you can close the trades manually. We don't close trades manually and we always allow the robot to control its own trades.

If you don't see the panels, you may close one of them. You can just create a support tick and our team will check it. Do not worry.
